Re: advise on where to find a hoop :::
Mon, March 5, 2007 - 6:55 AMChrista lives, plays and teaches hooping in Vancouver. She also moderates the Hula Hooping tribe, a tribe that has instructions for making your own hoop. Here's a link to her Tribe page: people.tribe.net/xta
Also, know that everyone I know who has gotten a hoop with water in it, later found a way to take the water back out. It sloshes around in there and can affect your rotation and ability to learn new moves. The plumbing pipe used to make these big hoops already has some weight so you don't really need water in it for weight. The only people I know who really dig water or sand in their hoops are people who like it for the massage to their internal organs. It's very hard on your hands when it comes to hand hooping though! I'm talking serious bruising. Just some things to think about when planning your new hoop... (There's even a discussion about water versus no water on the Hula Hooping tribe.) -
