New to hooping and new to this tribe. My question for anyone wit imput is what the heck should one wear to practice? I practice in a public area and I am not a skinny mini so I dont like really tight clothes. Today I was lounging around doing homework in baggy clothes and went to pracice and noticed the hoop slipping off my hips alot and was having a lot of trouble saving it when it started to slip. So any suggestions on good material or type of clothing to wear for practice?

Re: What to wear...
Wed, November 15, 2006 - 1:09 PMI suggest fitted tees or tanks and some yoga pants that aren't too silky. You might look at your hoop rather than your clothes. I was progressing very slowly until I wrapped my hoop in cloth athletic tape (now I use gaffer tape from IdentiTape). The grippiness factor makes all the difference. I got instantly better and totaly enjoy hooping more. If you have enough grippy on your hoop try shorts for knee hooping and play around with materials, some just work better than others. -

Re: What to wear...
Wed, November 15, 2006 - 2:59 PMI'm not on the real skinny side either, and I love hooping in an older pair of track pants, or thai fisher pants. Then just a t-shirt or long-sleeve. I dont really hoop in public for the most part in this weather (ahhh BC in the Fall!). But I agree 100%, the grip factor makes all the difference... i just can't hoop in a hoodie or baggy pants that'll get caught up in the spin of things, that's all.
